Sara Ennis FAQ
Sara Ennis Thriller FAQ
Do I need to read the Duality series in order?
Yes. The Dollhouse, The Hunted: Sins of the Father, The Dollmaster, and The Mercy: Angel of Death follow the same characters across a connected timeline and should be read in sequence.
Are the standalone thrillers connected to the Duality series?
Not directly. That Carver Girl, Breaking Bianca, Little Doves, Losing Sophia, and Small Gods are all standalone stories with their own self-contained plots. You don't need to read the Duality series first to enjoy them.
Do characters from one book show up in others?
Yes. While each book (and series) tells a complete, self-contained story with no cliffhangers, characters often cross paths across the wider Komorebi World, so longtime readers will spot familiar faces along the way.
What is the Komorebi World?
Komorebi is the organization at the heart of these stories, a private network, something like a quiet, behind-the-scenes version of a Criminal Minds team, though their work isn't investigative. Komorebi helps families and survivors navigate the aftermath of abduction: support, resources, and a path forward once the headlines fade. The "Komorebi World" is the shared universe of dark, interconnected and standalone psychological thrillers built around this organization and the people it touches.
What order should I read everything in, including short stories?
See the full Books in Order page for the complete reading guide, including bonus short stories and reader magnets.
Are these books based on true events?
Yes. Every book is inspired by real events, cases, or themes, though all characters and specific plots are fictionalized.
How dark are these books? Is there a content warning?
These are dark psychological thrillers and may include violence, abduction, abuse, and other heavy themes. If you're sensitive to graphic content, Losing Sophia is the gentlest entry point, with minimal physical violence compared to the rest of the catalog.
Are the books available in audio?
Currently, The Dollhouse, The Hunted: Sins of the Father, Little Doves, and That Carver Girl are available in audiobook, along with the short stories Veronique and The Abduction of Rosie B. Check each book's page for narrator and retailer links.
