Just call me Sara...
Everyday Sara scoops litter boxes, complains about Iowa weather, and plays endless rounds of “Ball!” with Charlie, my blind Aussie/Husky who may or may not be the reincarnation of a third baseman.
Then there’s writer Sara. There are two of us, and they're both me.
As Sara Ennis, I dive headfirst into the dark side, writing psychological thrillers where danger lurks, survival isn’t guaranteed, and humanity teeters on the edge. But don’t worry, the dog never dies. Sadly, these stories are inspired by (not based on) real life situations. There are monsters walking among us. There are giants, too, in the form of survivors.
As Sara Isabelle, I embrace humor, found family, and small-town charm, spinning cozy mysteries packed with quirky characters, heartwarming friendships, and just enough crime to keep things interesting. These worlds are places I want to live, even if it's only in my imagination.
All versions of Sara love wine and tequila (not in the same glass), traveling anywhere and everywhere, and exploring the weirdness—good and bad—of the human brain.
Pick your path: Dark and twisty or warm and witty. Either way, it’s gonna be a ride!
Breaking Bianca, the latest Komorebi serial killers thriller, releases October 28th! Learn more about it here.
Are you ready for the dark?
Do you like dark, character-driven thrillers?
The Komorebi Serial Killer Series delivers a relentless collection of psychological thrillers, linked by a private survivor network and by the women who refuse to stay victims. They were taken, hunted, or targeted.
A common link through these books is Komorebi, a private, invitation-only platform offering support to families of the missing (Promise) and to survivors themselves (Hope).
Across the series, women of all ages and backgrounds fight back against those who seek to destroy them. Some are still searching for justice. Some are learning how to live again. Some are ready to hunt. Not all of them make it out.
Whether they’re escaping a killer, confronting the past, or helping someone else survive what they barely did, the women of Komorebi don’t go quietly.
Gritty, emotional, and impossible to forget, The Komorebi Serial Killer Series explores the lasting impact of trauma—and the strength it takes to fight your way out of the dark.
Or do you need some fun?
Do you need to escape into the lighter side?
The Lyssa Jones cozy mystery series is for you!
Welcome to Bliss, Iowa, where the pie is perfect, the gossip’s nonstop, and someone always ends up dead.
Lyssa Jones didn’t come home to solve murders. She came back because her life fell apart: divorced, unemployed, and stuck with a bar she never wanted. Now she’s dodging pity looks while trying to figure out what’s next.
Over the course of seven books, Lyssa finds herself tangled in bookstore feuds, senior citizen schemes, shady developers, poisonings, arson, and more than one badly-timed bake sale. Helping, or complicating, things are her best friend and mayor Holly Bliss, diner queen Daisy, pixie punk business partner (and half-sister) Sam Coby, a blind dog named Stevie Nicks, and Trouble the cat, who inserts himself whether he’s invited or not. There might also be a goat or two.
If Only Murders in the Building moved to Stars Hollow and ran into Schitt’s Creek on the way, you’d end up in Bliss.
The Lyssa Jones Mysteries are sharp, funny, and full of heart—with just enough hauntings to keep things interesting.
